New Antipodean designer collections to wear this autumn
The new Antipodean designer drops to wear this autumn
Australia and New Zealand may be best known for their summer style, but these labels are proving they deserve a spot in your autumn wardrobe, too.
By Ella Sangster
AROUND THE WORLD, Australians and New Zealanders are renowned for their summer style. With our stunning weather and famed coastal lifestyle, it's only natural our local labels have mastered the art of the warm-weather wardrobe. However, each year, as the mercury begins to drop and we prepare to swap out shorts and sundresses for jeans and jackets, our homegrown designs prove they're just as skilled in the realm of autumnal wear, too.
As we gear up for autumn 2024, it seems as though we'll be in for a treat on the fashion front. A crop of local designers have already unveiled their autumn/winter 2024 collections, featuring a range of pieces to keep us both warm and fashionable as we head into the cooler months. Plus, with Melbourne Fashion Festival in March, and Australian Fashion Week arriving in Sydney in May, the Antipodean style set will be out in force with inspiration for how to wear them.
Scroll on for the best Antipodean designer drops to know, love and shop for autumn 2024.
Henne
Autumn/winter 2024
Henne's autumn/winter essentials collection is titled 'Icon,' and fittingly so. A blend of urban minimalism and timeless essentials, the drop encapsulates the essence of being noticed on the street-or caught a fleeting glimpse of through a train window.
Anchored in the brand's signature neutrals, the collection comes to life through pops of red and textural variety. Layer vegan leather with wool, knits with cotton, and denim with poplin for a truly 'icon'-worthy look.
Shona Joy
Autumn 2024
For autumn 2024, Shona Joy presents an evolution of its signature silk silhouettes. Titled Camino Del Sol, its latest collection is inspired by the Spanish coastline of Costa Brava and brings a touch of summer warmth to our autumn wardrobes.
The featured sunset hues and deep greens are balanced by a handful of neutral pieces and darker-toned prints-an autumn and winter wedding guest wardrobe, reimagined.
St. Agni
Autumn/winter 2024
St. Agni knows a "less is more" approach doesn't have to mean boredom. For AW24, the masters of minimalism meditate upon the concept of wearable architecture with pieces exploring deconstruction, layering and proportion. Oversized, structured tailoring is found alongside lightweight eveningwear and draped silhouettes. Anchored in pewter grey, ink and moody reds, amid an offering of neutral essentials, the collection embodies the spirit (and weather) of the changing season.
Bondi Born
Anthurium
Entitled Anthurium, Bondi Born's latest swimwear and ready-to-wear collection captures the lingering energy of summer, and lays the foundation for a capsule wardrobe for the season. In a palette of white, watermelon and blue; linen, silk and cotton creations envelope and fall from the body with ease. It's the energy of summer's last days, encapsulated.
Bec + Bridge
Autumn 2024
In its 22nd year of Australian design prowess, Bec + Bridge are marking the new season with a French chic twist. Titled, 'Daviel,' (a Hebrew word meaning "beloved") Bec + Bridge's Autumn 2024 collection is inspired by Parisian nights and French lingerie; effortlessly juxtaposing romantic femininity with masculine tailoring for a transeasonal (and sensual) offering for 'it' girls.
From classic Bec+Bridge bias cut slim dresses to sheer fabrications, embellished party dresses and sharp suiting; 'Daviel' is ready to elevate your day-to-night wardrobe.
Scanlan Theodore
Pre-fall 2024
No one encapsulated the spirit of Australian elegance quite like Scanlan Theodore. The Melbourne-based brand returns for pre-fall 2024 with a collection that reimagines its signatures. Featuring leather, crepe knit and denim presented in modern silhouettes, as well as Scanlan Theodore's famously sharp tailoring, craftsmanship is key throughout and a neutral palette is balanced by pops of blue, red and citrus green.
Supported by a stunning campaign shot in Tasmania's Styx Valley-which gets its name from the Styx River, the signifier of the boundary between Earth and the Underworld in Greek Mythology-the drop is as sentimental as it is stylish, blending the label's Greek heritage with its Australian roots.
Rebecca Vallance
Essentials 2024
When it comes to sourcing the essential pieces to form the foundation of your autumn wardrobe, Rebecca Vallances' (aptly named) 'Essentials' collection has your back.
Presented in an extremely wearable neutral palette, the collection leans into the sharp tailoring, layering and intricate knitwear that autumn weather allows for. With day-to-night pieces, ranging from suits to accessories, it's here you'll find the pieces you'll reach for all season long.
Rachel Gilbert
Autumn 2024
Inspired by the new year's spirit of renewal and rejuvenation, Rachel Gilbert's autumn 2024 is all about change and growth. Entitled 'Kaleidoscope,' the drop blends elegance and dramatic flair across a range of new pieces. From the embellished, full-sleeved Alice Gown, to the party-ready The Farley mini and Plisse pleat maxi dress; intricate detail and eye-catching patterns and colours guarantee you'll make a memorable entrance at the season's events.
Summi Summi
Autumn/winter 2024
The arrival of autumn doesn't necessarily mean the immediate abandonment of colour from your wardrobe, as evidenced by Summi Summi's AW24 drop. Entitled 'Manifest This,' the collection aims to transport the wearer to Palmer's Island, a place of peace where founder Ash Vallis does her "greatest manifesting." The palette blends moody and sticking shades presented in hand-painted prints across a range of ready-to-wear pieces.
SPELL
Cabana collection
For those in Australia's warmer climates-such as Byron Bay, home of SPELL-autumn dressing can pose a problem. How does one dress for the season's vibe while summer's heat still lingers? SPELL's Cabana collection has the solution.
Described by the brand as "a passport to a new chapter waiting to be written," Cabana blends autumnal tones with flowing, bohemian silhouettes and breathable fabrics. As always, SPELL's latest offering was designed with Mother Nature in mind so you can rest easy knowing your wears are ethically sourced as well as stylish.
CUE

Tough yet feminine; modern yet timeless-after several seasons of delivering in duality, Cue returns with another enduring collection for autumn 2024. Exploring the house's core codes in a contemporary light, the new release features striking tailoring and workwear-ready silhouettes alongside daring fabrications and joyous pops of colour.
