Everything to Know About Season 2 of 'Pretty Little Liars: Summer School'
The Pretty Little Liars reboot left its mark when it introduced a group of friends who get tormented by a person named A-and the twists and turns will continue in season 2.
During the season 1 finale, which aired in August 2022, the girls discovered that Angela's (Gabriella Pizzolo) brother Archie was behind the murders. The attacker teamed up with his biological father, Principal Clanton (Robert Stanton), to take revenge on those who played a role in Angela's death.
According to Bailee Madison, most of the reveals were a surprise to the cast. After Imogen gave her baby up for adoption to Ezra (Ian Harding) and Aria (Lucy Hale), Madison discussed what kind of future she wanted for her character.
I think [Imogen's] realized that she's actually a very smart young woman. I think she's realized that she is capable of surviving, that she's capable of tackling things that people might run away from," the actress continued. "Obviously our show is so horror reference related and nods to iconic characters and I think you look at Jamie Lee Curtis and you look at Neve Campbell from Scream and it's like, these women continuously grow and grow and own it, and I think for Imogen there's so much that she has to heal from still, and what is it like after she's given birth? What does that feel like and what does that do to someone as a young woman?"
Chandler Kinney, who plays Tabby Haworthe, also opened up about where she would like to see season 2 go. I think Tabby has this beautiful optimism and fire within her and when you first meet her, that's so hidden and she's kind of jaded. She expresses herself through film and by being jokey, and there's so much really to uncover there," she told Collider, noting that Tabby will start to move on from her assault. "And now that she's had or has begun to actually have some closure with that specific trauma in her life, I'm excited to see that fire come alive again because it once was very, very strong and it was dimmed, and now I think it's burning brighter than ever.

Following Archie's reveal in the season 1 finale, the new episodes may explore more of his origin story with Angela. The showrunners have also teased a potential new threat that none of the girls see coming."It's almost a direct pickup from the end of season 1. We end sort of on Christmas Eve, with our amazing last tag kill which is A killing Chip and A on the loose. And then we pick up Christmas morning with Imogen and Tabby unwrapping Christmas gifts with Tabby's mom and getting a panicked phone call," Aguirre-Sacasa told Cosmopolitan in March 2024. "And that's all in the first minute of the episode so we are definitely picking up right where we left off in a really pulse-pounding way."Bring, meanwhile, teased the spooky vibe for the season, adding, "The scares are a bit bigger, and badder and bolder. We do have a new villain who possibly is connected to Archie Waters, as we'll learn early on in episode 1. One of our favorite franchises this season is SpookySpaghetti.com. Roberto and I and our writers are all very obsessed with Creepypasta, so we love sort of having our own website. And this horror villain is going to test every one of the girls and they'll go on their own personal journey."HBO MAX

According to Bring, the door is always open when it comes to future hints at the original Pretty Little Liars series. 'We always think nods are fun and Easter eggs are fun and wanted to give nods to the PLL universe and also the Riverdale universe,' she explained to Entertainment Weekly about the mentions in season 1. 'I actually pushed that more than Roberto because I'm such a fan. So whenever I can find ways to slip that in, I think Roberto relents to me.'HBO MAX

According to Cosmopolitan, the new villain is called Bloody Rose. "Our villain is a female figure of horror, which is something we really wanted to explore in our female-centered horror show. We also wanted our villain to feel quite apocalyptic and terrifying. And because most of our season is set during summer — besides taking inspiration from our favorite slashers — we wanted it to feel a little more apocalyptic, like something like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre or even Midsommar,' Aguirre-Sacasa noted. 'There's a lot of really horrific imagery tied to movies like that and we wanted to tap into those a little bit. And we also knew we had to make a villain scarier than A and it was pretty scary in season 1." Bring added: "The mythology of the look of her face is very tied into the mythology of the show. And that's something that will reveal a bit later in the season."HBOMAX

During an interview with TV Insider in August 2022, the show's creators confirmed that Chip and Sheriff Beasley were dead. 'It pained us very much to kill Carson and it pained us so much to kill Eric Johnson, who's also the loveliest person in the world,' Bring shared at the time. 'As Roberto said, those two characters were so irredeemable, it wasn't possible to keep them around.' HBO MAX
