Carol McGiffin thinks Janet Road Porter might be the subsequent to go away Loose Women.

The broadcaster and journalist has been a fixture on ITV's daytime panel show since 2011, but her former co-star thinks alleged contract disputes might see her step away.

Carol, who first appeared on the show in 2000, left earlier in 2023, and has since been heavily critical of her former employer ITV.

On the time, she claimed it was a choice she was 'pressured to make' after her own rows with bosses.

Responding to the thought Janet might depart, she wrote in her Greatest magazine column: 'It's apparently the identical difficulty that I had with them final yr.

'The problem is partly right down to HMRC, who look like hell-bent on obliterating the self-employed so they modify the principles always and put the frighteners on corporations in order that they drive freelancers onto the payroll.

'Which might be high quality, the truth is I was able to go together with it until I realised that although I'd pay the same tax and NI as the employed, I wouldn't get the advantages – sick pay, vacation pay, pension contributions, and so forth.

'Not solely that, signing it meant limiting different work, and in my case anyway, with none guarantee of labor from ITV!

'As I stated at the time, no one in their proper mind would have signed that contract.'

Carol insisted she doesn't assume ITV bosses would 'again down', which might see Janet 'comply with her out of the door'.

She added: 'For the sake of the viewers, I sincerely hope that doesn't happen they usually handle to barter some type of acceptable deal.'

On the time of announcing her own departure, Carol stated that the decision left her 'fairly upset'.

She wrote in her column: 'The issue was, ITV have been insisting, for the first time since I went back in 2018, that if I needed to carry on doing the present, I would have to signal a contract that was completely unjust and unworkable for me, so I had to say "no thanks." '

She argued: 'Nobody in their proper mind would have signed that contract. And I can't see a method again from it.'
