The import tax is part of his administration's broader economic agenda that hopes to bring manufacturing employment back to the U.S. But that policy threatens to drive up car costs for Americans that are already at historic highs, experts told the Daily Mail. 'If the Trump administration's proposed tariffs are going to increase costs of various steel and other metals, that's going to drive up auto costs,' Michael DeLong, a research and advocacy associate for the Consumer Federation of America, a consumer-interest non-profit, said.
