She's known as the Princess of R&B, but her short life was deprived of a fairytale ending. Brooklyn-born singer Aaliyah Dana Haughton, who transformed the genre in the 1990s with her second album One in a Million (1996), illegally wed sex trafficker R Kelly at the tender age of 15, despite him being 27 at the time. Despite the childhood marriage, which was later annulled, Aaliyah found stardom in her music career and on-screen, including in the 2000 film Romeo Must Die.
