Fury as New Jersey town council tries to ban American flags from public meetings
A New Jersey town erupted in anger after its municipal council banned 'props' - including the American flag - in public meetings and proceeded to toss out a man for waving one in protest. Joel Bassoff, a local resident and attorney, was ushered out of last Monday's Edison Township Council meeting by police, all because he was armed with the star-spangled banner. At the November 25 meeting, Bassoff and other residents decried new ordinances that ban the props - which also include the US Constitution - and shorten public comments from six minutes to four minutes.
