Britain's biggest family shared the heartbreaking news that a family friend's daughter had a rare type of cancer – and were doing everything possible to get her the help she desperately needs.

The young teenager is the daughter of their best friends Jamie and Rebecca Walker and the family want to do all they can to help raise money for her cancer treatment.

Sophie has Wilms's tumour which is a type of kidney cancer and she was diagnosed with it when she was just 10 years old.

The family set up a GoFundMe page to help with donations which tells Sophie's tragic battle with the illness.

Sophie was given the all clear with her first treatment – but unfortunately the cancer has come back after she "encountered a series of unfortunate events with her treatments'."

Despite the NHS insisting there's not "much hope", the mum opened the page as other facilities believe treatments are available that would be curative.

Medical facilities around the world say treatments look promising so the family are hoping to raise the target of 350,000 to get Sophie the life-saving procedure.

Following the news, the Radfords rallied together to donate and fundraise for the cause.

Their 11-year-old Casper suggested selling his toys or doing a car boot sale with items from their ten-bed Lancashire-based property.

"It's definitely been nice that all of the kids can get involved to help Sophie," Sue said on the Channel 5 TV show, 22 Kids And Counting.

"I think that's the thing with having a big family is that everybody just wants to get involved and help others.

Yes, from the older ones to the younger ones, every one of them just wants to help out," Noel added.

But fans of Britain's largest family have also joined forces to support the family.

Author and Medium, Chloe Ship, took to Instagram sharing the GoFundMe page after watching the latest episode of the hit show that aired last week.

She wrote: "This broke my heart, I will do my best to raise some money to help in any way possible.

"I am sending so healing love to you all as a family and for Sophie for being so inspirational.

"I know times are hard with money but every little helps, kindness also goes a long way."

The Instagram story supporting the family got Sue's seal of approval as it was then shared by The Radford Family account.

Sophie has to undergo treatment which includes getting Vitamin C through a canula twice a week.

The benefits of this procedure for cancer patients are still not 100 per cent proven – but her parents have openly praised its effects.

The Walkers, who are based in Edinburgh and have nine children, have been good friends with the bumper brood for quite some time, as they bond over having a big family.

They said: "This is the final chance for our daughter's life and we are absolutely at everyone's mercy."

Since the show was aired, fans have taken to their Instagram to show their support.

One fan commented on their Instagram post, writing: "Beautiful family, always willing to help others."

Another was moved to tears, writing: "Been following Sophie's journey, such a beautiful young lady."

"Well done Casper, I hope Sophie gets all the money she needs," someone else penned.
