People are really disturbed by clip of young Leonardo DiCaprio and convicted child sex abuser
A resurfaced clip of Leonardo DiCaprio being referred to as the 'hottest hunkiest teen idol' by a now-convicted paedophile has left many people unsettled.
This week the documentary series Quiet on Set was released and detailed the 'toxic work conditions' on Nickelodeon children's shows in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Although most of the allegations centred on Dan Schneider, the creator of iCarly and Zoey 101, former child star Drake Bell also spoke about being sexually abused by Nickelodeon dialogue and acting coach Brian Peck.
In one of the episodes, his father Joe Bell spoke about the behaviour he witnessed between Peck and his son behind-the-scenes that set alarm bells ringing.
During an emotional interview, he said: 'Unfortunately, I started seeing Brian start to just hang around Drake too much and it didn't sit well with me.'
He went on to explain that during their time on set he would notice the coach constantly entering his son's dressing room and inappropriately and needlessly touching him.
A clip was then shown of Peck on the set of Growing Pains in 1991 with a then 15-year-old DiCaprio, with their interaction leaving many unsettled after being aware of how the dialogue coach was later sent to jail.
In the clip the 31-year-old is seen joking around with the teenager and says: 'Leo's job on the set is for some reason to make fun of me all day long.'
He then adds: 'Leo is as you know the latest, hottest hunkiest teen idol there is.
After the young actor then flexes his muscles, Peck points to his biceps and exclaims: 'Look speaking of hunky, huh?'
Following the clip airing in the series, many people shared their thoughts on social media.
'This makes my skin crawl in so many ways' one person shared on X.
'This was hard to watch,' someone else shared.
'I remember seeing this and feeling weird,' another added.
Referencing the clip in Quiet on Set, Bell said: 'I saw this video of Brian Peck on Growing Pains with Leonardo DiCaprio grabbing his shoulders and running [his hand] down his arm. That's the kind of behaviour I saw him with my son. The same freaking behaviour.'
In 2003, Peck was accused of molesting a child and spent 16 months in prison after being convicted of a lewd act against a child and oral copulation of a person under 16.
The identity of the child in the case against him remained anonymous at the time, however Bell came forward in Quiet on Set to reveal his identity and speak about what he was subjected to for the first time publicly.
He explained how the abuse was 'extensive and got pretty brutal'.
DiCaprio has never indicated that he was a victim of Peck's and has never publicly addressed their past association with him or Peck's legal issues.
Peck was sentenced to 16 months in prison in October 2004 and registered as a sex offender
This week Schneider went on to has apologise for inappropriate behaviour on the set of his shows.
In a 20-minute video posted on YouTube on Tuesday, he called the series 'difficult' and 'embarrassing' to watch.
'Facing my past behaviours – some of which are embarrassing and that I regret – and I definitely owe some people a pretty strong apology,' he said.
Metro.co.uk has contacted representatives for Leonardo DiCaprio for comment.
Quiet on Set is available to watch on Investigation Discovery in the United States.
