Dan Walker is being criticised for his 'insensitive' joke aimed toward Kate Middleton amid the controversy surrounding her edited Mother's Day photo.

The former BBC presenter, 46, is considered one of many to comment on the unfolding drama around the first official picture of the Princess of Wales since she underwent abdominal surgery in January – which she has now confirmed was edited.

Walker posted a closely altered photograph of a man, not himself, with a comically white smile, captioning the publish: '"Like many novice photographers, I do sometimes experiment with modifying.'

This was a mocking reference to a direct quote from the Princess' assertion about her now-infamous family photo.

Some fans took challenge with the publish – which has since been deleted – from the& 2021 Strictly Come Dancing star, saying they 'expected more' from Walker and that the joke was 'classless'.

The controversy started when Kate released a photograph of herself and her three youngsters on Mom's Day, instantly creating a social media frenzy. It was extensively believed that the picture had been digitally altered.

Kate tried to elucidate the edited Mom's Day photograph with a post on X: 'Like many newbie photographers, I do sometimes experiment with modifying. I needed to precise my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday induced. I hope everyone celebrating had a very completely happy Mom's Day. C.'

The admission has sparked a mountain of discourse on social media, together with Walker's publish.

The image came after weeks of speculation over Kate's whereabouts, as she prevented the public eye within the wake of her operation.&

Whereas the fact that the photograph was altered is clear – many have pointed out that Princess Charlotte's sleeve was grainy, while sections of the backdrop didn't line up properly – some are noticing extra suspicious details, such as the seasonally incorrect foliage in the background and the shortage of a wedding ring on Kate's finger.&

This has led some to take a position that Kate is way more unwell than the palace is letting on or that one thing extra nefarious is going on, causing fans to hit back at Walker's try and make mild of the state of affairs.

A number of X customers agreed Walker's publish was classless and even 'pathetic.'

But Walker isn't the only one who's made fun of the Princess of Wale's statement, with other X customers taking to the platform to create memes about Middleton modifying her personal photographs.

Many have agreed that Middleton's rationalization is fishy, together with Piers Morgan, who wrote on X: 'The Palace should launch the unedited photograph of Kate & the youngsters asap. If it's only a small bit of innocent retouching gone flawed, no one will care. If they don't release the unique pic, the conspiracy theories they have been making an attempt to kill, will get approach worse.'

Shortly after the image was launched it was withdrawn by international image businesses later the identical day.

Stories have emerged that the palace has refused to launch the unique photograph, further sparking conspiracy theories.
