A MEIJER shopper has taunted the retailer after staffers requested to verify his receipt twice.
The client was baffled by the requests after shopping for only a handful of things.
"Nailed it, guys. You got me… wtf," Brian (@TGIBriday83) posted on X, formerly Twitter.
He went to the store to buy variations of McDonald's Squishmallows and two Disney princess figures.
Brian also picked up a bag of tortilla chips and simply three avocados.
Staff reportedly requested him to point out his receipt on the self-checkout and before leaving.
It's unclear if Meijer has rolled out receipt checks in all of its stores.
The U.S. Solar has approached Meijer for further remark.
Receipt inspections at store exits are a tactic commonly used by membership shops similar to Sam's Club and Costco.
The checks are designed to ensure clients are being charged correctly for gadgets.
