Heartbreak High Season 2 cast

Netflix has enrolled two new students for season 2 of Heartbreak High.

Sam Rechner-who got his big break in Steven Spielberg's biographical feature film, The Fabelmans-will join the class as Rowan Callaghan. Netflix describes Rowan as "an unassuming country boy with a dry wit and a passion for classic cinema who finds himself thrown headfirst into the chaos of Hartley High and a truly epic love triangle." While there's no word yet as to who else will be involved in said love triangle, we are already here for the quintessential high school drama of it all.

Rechner is joined by Deadloch's Kartanya Maynard, who's been cast as Zoe Clarke. The streamer says Zoe is "an opinionated celibacy advocate who, along with her gang of Puriteens, threatens to bring down the SLT class from within."

What is Heartbreak High about?

Season one of Netflix's Heartbreak High delved into the trials and tribulations of high school. The plot follows Amerie (Ayesha Madon), who is made an instant pariah at Hartley High after a discovery is made-and after a very public friendship break-up with bestie Harper (Asher Yasbincek). With her new friends, outsiders Quinni (Chlo Hayden) and Darren (James Majoos), Amerie has to repair her reputation while navigating the murky waters of love, sex and heartbreak.

Season 2 will continue to follow Hartley High's resident troubled teens-but there could be some unexpected plot points.

Thanks to the Zoe and Rowan's character descriptions, we do know a love triangle will be involved-as well as a possible takedown of the infamous SLT class.

The trailer indicates that this triangle will involve Malakai, Amerie and Rowan, with Malakai telling the newbie, "Amerie and I-we're not together but we're not not together." Classic situationship. It also appears something could be brewing between Ant and Harper.

The official logline notes: "The flies are buzzing, the ibis are raiding the bins, and the sun shines down on our favourite lowest ranking school in the district-Hartley High. Students stream through the gates and all our heroes are back for a second term-threesomes, chlamydia and burning cars a distant memory-it seems possible that everyone's done a bit of growing up over the Term 1 holidays"
